Launching on 4 September 2025, Play’n GO’s Rise of Olympus Extreme takes one of its most successful franchises and drives the numbers into uncharted territory. The familiar 5x5 cascading grid is back, along with the trio of gods who have fronted the series since 2018. But this time volatility is pushed to the studio’s maximum rating of 10/10, multipliers can climb to x1000, and the prize ceiling doubles to a record-setting 50,000x the bet, or €5,000,000 at €100 stakes.
The Grid
For players new to this series, the basics are simple: align three or more matching symbols vertically or horizontally, and they disappear to make room for new ones. Wins also create a Wild in the centre, which sticks around until it’s the last symbol left.
To keep rounds from going flat, the gods step in with their trademark modifiers:
- Hades transforms one set of symbols.
- Poseidon adds Wilds to the grid.
- Zeus removes two sets of symbols outright.
It’s the same rhythm that’s kept Olympus popular for seven years, though Extreme adds extra bite with the chance of starting a spin with a random multiplier already in play.
Wrath of Olympus – The Bridge to Free Spins
God symbols do more than just pay. Wins with Hades, Poseidon, or Zeus charge a meter, and once it’s full, the Wrath of Olympus feature takes over. Each god applies his modifier in sequence, one after the other.
Clear the entire grid during Wrath, and Free Spins are unlocked. It’s the same route as before, but in Extreme the feature feels weightier because of how multipliers now stack into the thousands.
Free Spins – Where x1000 is Alive
Once inside, you choose your god:
- Hades offers 4 spins at the sharpest volatility.
- Poseidon grants 5 for a balanced run.
- Zeus starts with 8, the safer option.
The crucial twist is that the multiplier built in Wrath carries straight into Free Spins, and it doesn’t stop growing until it hits x1000. Clearing the board pays 20× the bet multiplied by the active multiplier, meaning a late clear with a stacked ladder is where the slot lives up to its name.
Olympus in Context
Each Rise of Olympus game has stretched the same chassis further:
- The original (2018) capped around 5,000x with mid-range volatility.
- Rise of Olympus 100 (2022) lifted multipliers to x100 and exposure to about 15,000x.
- Origins (2023) layered in empowerment mechanics and chest prizes, lifting the ceiling to around 20,000x.
- Extreme now doubles it again, pushing volatility to 10/10 and setting the series’ first 50,000x ceiling.
Play’n GO still publishes multiple RTP settings — the default here is 96.2% — which fits the long-standing model. But it’s the climb in exposure that tells the story: every release has been about pushing the gods harder.
Final Thoughts
Rise of Olympus Extreme is the most uncompromising entry in the Olympus arc. It doesn’t need flashy new gimmicks; instead it delivers the cleanest, hardest-hitting version yet, doubling the headroom from Origins and letting multipliers hit levels unthinkable in the original. Whether that level is sustainable or too extreme will be decided on the reels — just after the mischievous Fire Joker Blitz — but the numbers alone make this Olympus the heaviest hitter in the studio’s portfolio.
