The annual International Gaming Awards ceremony was held on 6th February 2017, with 26 prize winners for achievements of the past year. This includes many land-based and online gaming awards for accomplishments that range from being the most socially responsibile to having the best start-up. Here are a few noteworthy mentions in the iGaming sphere.
A company that we’re all familiar with, NetEnt, won in just one category and it’s not what many may think – Great Place to Work. As such, they lost the Slot Provider/Supplier Product award this year to Play’n GO. Johan Törnqvist, CEO of Play’n GO, said: “We’re ecstatic to win a prestigious IGA award, which is a fantastic recognition of all of the work the team has put in over the past 12 months.”
“We’ve been extremely busy in the last year, releasing more than 20 new games and signing deals with over 20 operators. I’m sure the award win will be just the start of what looks set to be a fantastic year ahead.”
Here’s some more supplier-related accolades. Having won the iGaming Software Supplier award last year and presented a collection of in-game promotional tools, such as BOOST™ and BRAG, for social sharing, Yggdrasil came back this year to be honoured with the Innovator award, which went to Microgaming last year. However, Microgaming had nothing to worry about as in the end they were crowned with the Mobile Product of the Year award instead. Speaking of mobile, the Mobile Operator of the Year prize went to Cherry Gaming, which is owned by the same company as Yggdrasil.
Finally, the iGaming Software Supplier award winner for 2017 is Betconstruct, a fast-growing company whose clients are sites like Vbet Casino, OnlyBet and CasinoSahara.
When it comes to operators, then Leo Vegas has had two successful years in a row, winning the Online Casino Operator of the Year prize again. The casino is celebrating its 5th birthday and has quite a few birthday deals to give away to its new and existing players that are worth a closer look.
Having proven what they can do with their mobile site last year by winning the Mobile Operator of the Year trophy, this year Mr Green traded it to the Online Gaming Operator of the Year award, with Cherry Gaming who were given plaudits and the cup for their mobile operation this time.
Last but not least, the Slots Operator of the Year award went to Videoslots Casino, second year in a row. With major site updates planned for this year, we’ll surely hear from them again in the future.
