Money Train 2

Editor's notes

Money Train 2 is the slot that turned the bonus buy into a genre. Released by Relax Gaming in September 2020, it took the Money Cart respin round of the 2019 original and rebuilt it around eleven special symbols — Payer, Collector, Sniper, Necromancer, their Persistent versions, Reset Plus and two multiplier symbols — that interact with each other across a hold-and-respin grid until no new symbol lands. A Collector sums every visible value into itself, a Payer adds its own value to every other symbol, a Sniper doubles three to eight of them, a Necromancer revives spent ones; the Persistent variants repeat their effect on every subsequent respin, and that compounding is where the 50,000x cap lives — a figure the game does reach, though rarely. The base game is a 5×4, 40-payline Western-steampunk layout that exists mostly to trigger the feature: three or more bonus symbols open the Money Cart round, and the Bonus Buy opens it directly at 100x the stake. The buy is also where the math moves: the default RTP is 96.40%, while the bought round plays at 98.00%, one of the few cases in which paying for the feature raises the expected return rather than lowering it (the opposite of Joker Stoker’s Bonus Pop, documented elsewhere in this database). The Bonus Buy is unavailable in the UK, where Relax instead released Money Cart 2 as a stand-alone bonus-only game. Volatility is very high and the hit frequency around one in five spins. Bets run from 0.20 to 20 per spin, which caps the top payout at £1 million. The series has since grown — Money Train 3 (2022, 100,000x), Money Train 4 (2023, 150,000x) and Money Train 5 (2026) — each a separate game with its own math; Money Train 2 remains the version most players mean when they say the name.
