1429 Uncharted Seas

Editor's notes

1429 Uncharted Seas is one of the highest-returning video slots in circulation and, unlike Mega Joker or Jackpot 6000, it reaches that figure without conditions. Thunderkick publishes a single RTP of 98.60%, with no Supermeter mode or stake level required to unlock it. The trade-off is a modest ceiling: the maximum win is 670x the stake, and the game is built for steady play rather than spikes — volatility is low and the hit frequency is around 41%, so roughly two spins in five pay something. The structure is simple. Five reels, three rows and 25 fixed paylines, illustrated in the style of an old nautical chart. The ship is the wild: it lands only on the three middle reels and expands to fill the whole reel, so a single spin can carry up to three wild reels. Three, four or five compass scatters award 10, 20 or 50 free spins, the expanding wilds stay active throughout, and the round can be retriggered. There is no multiplier in the free spins and no bonus buy. Bets run from 0.10 to 100 per spin, subject to the casino’s own limits. Released by Thunderkick in 2014, it sits in the same low-volatility, high-return profile as Blood Suckers — which makes it efficient for clearing wagering requirements and, for the same reason, worth checking against a bonus’s restricted-games list before you rely on it. Read alongside Mega Joker (99%), Jackpot 6000 (98.9%) and Blood Suckers (98%), it is the only one of the group whose headline return applies on every spin, at every stake.
